Betternet is a smart software tool that creates a Virtual Private Network (VPN) between your PC and a remote server. This allows you to mask your real IP address and, thus, surf the Internet with total privacy and safety. Also, you can access websites that are blocked by your company or ISP, or that have geographic restrictions, as all your traffic becomes anonymous.

The program offers a really simple user interface which can be handled even by complete beginners. It just consists of a small window that appears near your system notification area and all you need to do is to click on a button to connect to or disconnect from the VPN. You don't even need to register or provide any personal information to successfully use Betternet. The only configurable parameter of the program allows you to determine whether it should automatically re-connect to the VPN when Windows starts.

Comparing this tool with other similar ones I have tested before, I would say that Betternet provides you with very good connection and surfing speeds, while most of similar tools tend to be rather slow. The only drawback I could find for this program is that it doesn't allow you to select the server you want to connect to, or the country you would like to get a fake IP address from, which is a possibility in other tools. Betternet searches Internet for an available server and connects your PC to it automatically. Anyway, this could be considered rather an advantage by beginners. more
